How We Review
We want you to know exactly how we form our verdicts. We combine deep independent research with hands-on testing wherever we can — and we're always upfront when a review is research-based rather than a personal trial.
Market Screening
We survey the category, shortlisting products worth the time investment of a real test.
Deep Research
We dig into specs, expert coverage, and verified owner feedback — never a single data sheet taken at face value.
Hands-On Where We Can
When we can get a product in hand, we put it through real-world use before writing — and tell you when we have.
The Verdict
An honest breakdown of strengths, flaws, and exactly who the product is (and isn't) for.
1. Research First, Always
Every review starts with thorough, independent research: we study the manufacturer's specifications and claims, weigh them against expert coverage and verified owner feedback, and compare each product against the wider market. We never simply repackage a data sheet and call it a review — and if something doesn't add up, we say so.
2. Hands-On Where It's Possible
We can't personally test every product in a catalogue this broad, and we won't pretend otherwise. Where we can get a product in hand, we put it through real-world use before writing our verdict. Where we can't, our review is grounded in the research above — and we're transparent about which is which, so you always know what a verdict is based on.
3. Honest Verdicts
Whether hands-on or research-based, our goal is the same: a clear, honest breakdown of a product's strengths, its trade-offs, and exactly who it's right for. If there are flaws or caveats worth knowing, we call them out plainly, regardless of any affiliate relationship.
4. Affiliate Compensation Transparency
When you click through to a store from our links and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission. This never increases the price you pay. It funds our research and helps us test products where possible, keeping our reviews free and independent. See our Affiliate Disclosure for the full picture.
